BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
ADDENDUM TO
MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN OF NEWTOWN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS HELD ON MAY 5, 2009
At 11:02 P. M., the Board left executive session.
Commissioner Giannini speaking on behalf of the Board, commended the Sergeant candidates for their terrific effort and admirable qualities. Commissioner Giannini commented that everyone on the Board was proud of their efforts, their accomplishments, and their dedication to the citizens of the Town of Newtown.
At 11:04 P. M. Commissioner Giannini moved to promote Off. Dominic Costello to rank of Sergeant effective May 6, 2009, seconded by Commissioner Budd, unanimously passed by the Board.
At 11:05 P. M. Commissioner Giannini moved to promote Off. Daniel McAnaspie to the rank of Detective effective May 6, 2009, based upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police , seconded by Commissioner Budd, unanimously passed by the Board.
Commissioner Walzcak commented on the recent Board of Selectmen “open house” meeting with the citizenry at large. Commissioner Walzcak attended the event and gleaned from the Selectmen that they believed the Board must take a more proactive approach to the specific needs of the Police Department with regards to Budgets and Capital Projects and that the Board must make a more concerted effort to establish a presence at the meetings. Comments were made about the Space Needs of the Department and specific strategies would be discussed at later meetings.
At 11:34 P. M. Commissioner Budd moved to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Giannini, unanimously passed by the Board.
